AEE’s Sunshine Chapter luncheon

AEE’s Sunshine Chapter luncheon

You are invited to AEE’s Sunshine Chapter luncheon Wednesday, April 10th at the Valencia State College West Campus.

This month’s topic: Anaerobic Digester Biogas Production

Disposal and treatment of biological waste represent a major challenge for the waste industry. For a wide range of organic substances from waste water treatment facilities, waste foodstuff, agriculture and feed industries, anaerobic digestion is a superior alternative to composting.

Biogas—a mixture of both methane and carbon dioxide—is created during anaerobic digestion and serves as a high-energy renewable fuel that can be used as a substitute for fossil fuels. Biogas-fueled gas engines improve waste management while maximizing the use of economical energy supply.

Presenter: John D. Forcier, P.E. – Forcier Consulting Engineers

John has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont, and has more than 46 years of experience in the planning, design, permitting and construction of small through multi-million dollar municipal and private renewable energy, biogas, anaerobic digester, wastewater and composting projects throughout the U.S.A.

John is President of Forcier Consulting Engineers, PC and was honored as the Vermont Engineer of the Year in 2000 and was inducted into Tau Beta Pi as an Eminent Engineer in 1999.  His unique experience includes 19 years in the construction industry and 27 years in consulting engineering. His related anaerobic digester/biogas experience includes over 50 farm-based, commercial, industrial, municipal and wastewater treatment facility AD systems utilizing biosolids, manures, food waste, glycerin, SSO, DAF and FOG. The AD systems range from 100 kW to 3MW and handle up to 90,000 tons/yr. of organic feedstocks.
